Detroit, MI: Rockin' On The Riverfront! Come down to the GM Riverfront Stage and enjoy a FREE performance by The Blue Oyster Cult. This concert is presented by The GM Renaissance Center and WCSX-94.7 FM. No advanced registration or tickets are needed, just bring a lawn chair or blanket! No outside food or drinks please. The show starts at 8 p.m. and then main act performs from 9 - 10:30 p.m.. Call 313-568-5600 or visit GM RenCen.

Ann Arbor & Auburn Hills, MI: Do your kids love Radio Disney? You can join them at a couple of exciting back to school events this Saturday.
--If you are in Ann Arbor head over to the Briarwood Mall for a "Road Trippin' With The Tigers Back To School Blowout"! AM 910 Radio Disney will be live from 3PM-5PM and picking the grand prize winner to throw out the first pitch at an upcoming Detroit Tigers home game! Enjoy games, dances and great back 2 school prizes! Briarwood Mall is located at 100 Briarwood Circle in Ann Arbor. The event is FREE.
--If you are in Auburn Hills head out to Great Lakes Crossing to join Michael and Radio Disney Road Crew from 11:00am to 1:00pm for some back 2 school fun! You could win a back 2 school gift basket that will include a gift card for Great Lakes Crossing or other back to school prizes. There will be a fashion show from 11:30 a.m. - noon and the D-Tour from noon - 1 p.m.. This event is FREE!

Westland, MI: Hines Park in Westland is hosting a Kids' Day. There will be Olympic-type games, contests, moonwalks, water balloon races, live entertainment and more. Sat. 1 - 3 p.m.. Call 734-261-1990 for information.

Holly, MI: The Michigan Ren Fest is back in town! Experience thrilling entertainment, shop unique crafts or sample some of the delicious food offered at the Michigan Renaissance Festival! This annual event is held from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. every weekend August 16th - September 28th (plus Labor Day and Festival Friday on Sept. 19) rain or shine. Admission is $18.95 for adults, $9.95 for children and $16.95 for seniors. Discount tickets are available at Kroger, Wendy's and Walgreens or you can buy them online. Bring 4 cans of food for BOGO FREE adults tickets this weekend!

August 15 - 17
Madison Heights, MI: Head over to Toys R Us at 32700 John R Road for the Grand Opening celebration. Take advantage of great deal, FREE gifts and character appearances. The kids can meet Geoffrey the Giraffe, Diego, Funshine Bear, Arthur and Strawberry Shortcake from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 2 - 4 p.m.

Metro Detroit, MI: It's time for the Woodward Dream Cruise! Enjoy the sights and sounds of the past during this annual event held up and down Woodward Avenue. Check out events like Ford's Mustang Alley in Ferndale. Or take the kids over to Berkley for some family fun. No matter which community you pick you'll be sure to find lots to see and do. Please visit Dream Cruise events for information on the happenings in each community. The cruise is FREE to watch and is held from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Saturday, but there will be cruising and events happening all weekend long.

Detroit, MI: Celebrate African culture at the African World Festival. Experience live entertainment, a marketplace, food, the African Family Village, arts, crafts, games and activities. Admission is FREE. Hours are Fri. noon - 11 p.m., Sat. noon- 11 p.m., and Sun. noon- 9 p.m.. Downtown Detroit at Hart Plaza.
