Get an Early Start on Your Holiday Season
If you're the type to get your Christmas cards out the day after Thanksgiving then this event is for you! Pull your little goblins away from their candy stash on Sunday, November 2nd and head over to one of the seven English Gardens stores for a photo with Santa. From 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Santa will be on hand for photos during the Annual Holiday Open House.

In addition to photos with Santa you can take advantage of sales on Christmas trees and decorations. Don't forget to bring your old, broken strands of lights to trade in for $1.00 off new LED lights!

Best of all, a portion of the sales will be donated to Forgotten Harvest!

Garage Sale
Earlier this week I lost my greyhound, Ogre to cancer. Last year I lost my cat, Bella to the same disease. If you've been through this with your own pet then you know the disease is extremely painful and any kind of treatment very expensive. Many times there are no options. When there are the Popeye Animal Cancer Foundation is there to help disadvantaged owners with the financial burden. The Popeye Animal Cancer Foundation is a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization established in May of 2005.

There is a way you can help that won't hurt your pocketbook. Consider donating household items to their upcoming garage sale. Items can be donated at the Animal Cancer and Imaging Center at 8560 Canton Center RD in Canton, MI. Anyone who has ever thrown or attended a garage sale knows how much a large selection with a good variety goes toward its success.

Even if you can't donated you can consider attending the garage sale. It is being held on October 11th from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Animal Cancer and Imaging Center. Don't worry about forgetting because I'll be posting again as the day gets closer.

More Library Book Sales
I'd like to thank Kate for sharing this with me. I really wish I wasn't preparing for a move because I love book sales!

The Friends of the Marguerite deAngeli Branch Library in Lapeer are holding their annual book sale this week. Tuesday evening is a member's only sale, and Wednesday through Saturday the sale is open to the public from 10am-7pm.

Saturday will have bags of books for a buck, too!

The deAngeli Branch is at the corner of M-21 (aka Imlay City Road and/or Genesee Road, depending where you're at in town) and M-24 in Lapeer.

Call 810-664-6971 or visit the Marguerite deAngeli Branch for more info.

Library Book Sales
paperbacks

If you are anything like me your bookshelves are overflowing. Don't despair, this is the perfect time to thin out that collection and find some new gems! The Hazel Park Memorial Library semi-annual book sale is just around the corner. Wednesday, August 13 through Saturday August 16 books as well as audio/visual materials will be on sale. Most merchandise cost less than $1.00! Proceeds will raise money to purchase new media for the library. Call 248-546-4095.

I know, that's great for new books, but what about freeing some room? The Madison Heights Public Library is still seeking donations for their annual used book sale to be held in October. Bring your books in good condition (no magazines, text books or Reader's Digest please) to the library at 240 W. 13 Mile Road. You can drop off the books any time during normal business hour. Mon. and Tues. 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Wed., Fri., and Sat. 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Etsy Fundraiser
If you are looking to treat yourself or for a one-of-a-kind gift check out the fundraiser going on at Etsy! Erin, one of the amazing artists, blogs about it here. The fundraiser benefits Saving Shelter Pets with 20% of sales going to fund spay/neuter clinics for feral cats. If you are an art or animal lover or both you'll be sure to find something amazing!

Check out the spiffy new painting that will soon grace my wall!
